Rules & Regulations

Amsteck Arts & Science College is committed to maintaining a safe, disciplined, respectful, and academically enriching environment for all students. Every student is expected to follow the rules and regulations of the institution and contribute positively to the academic community.

1. General Conduct

  • Students must maintain discipline and decorum within the college campus at all times.
  • Students are expected to behave respectfully with teachers, staff, fellow students, visitors, and members of the public.
  • Students must carry their valid college ID card while on campus and produce it whenever required.
  • Students must follow the instructions and guidelines issued by the College authorities from time to time.
  • Any behaviour that affects the reputation, safety, or peaceful functioning of the institution will be subject to disciplinary action.

2. Attendance and Punctuality

  • Students are expected to attend all classes, practical sessions, seminars, examinations, and other academic activities regularly.
  • Students must arrive at the college and classrooms on time.
  • Attendance requirements prescribed by the College and the affiliating university must be strictly followed.
  • Students who are absent for valid reasons should submit the required leave application and supporting documents, where applicable.
  • Habitual absenteeism or late arrival may result in disciplinary action and may affect eligibility for examinations.

3. Academic Discipline

  • Students must complete assignments, records, projects, presentations, and other academic requirements within the prescribed time.
  • Students are expected to maintain academic honesty and integrity.
  • Plagiarism, copying, impersonation, fabrication of information, or any other form of academic malpractice is prohibited.
  • Students must follow the instructions of faculty members during classes, practical sessions, examinations, and other academic activities.
  • Students should make responsible use of library, laboratory, computer, and other academic facilities.

4. Dress Code and Identification

  • Students are expected to maintain a neat, clean, and appropriate appearance suitable for an academic environment.
  • College uniforms, dress codes, or other prescribed attire must be followed wherever applicable.
  • Students must wear and display their college identity card as instructed by the institution.

5. Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices

  • Mobile phones and electronic devices must be used responsibly and without disturbing academic activities.
  • Students must keep mobile phones on silent mode during classes, examinations, meetings, and other academic programmes.
  • Recording, photographing, or sharing classroom activities, staff, or other students without appropriate permission is prohibited.
  • Electronic devices must not be used for activities that violate college policies or the privacy and dignity of others.

6. Anti-Ragging

  • Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the college campus, hostel, transportation facilities, and other places associated with the institution.
  • Students must not engage in physical, verbal, psychological, online, or any other form of harassment or intimidation.
  • Any incident of ragging will be dealt with in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Students are encouraged to report incidents of ragging or harassment to the appropriate college authorities.

7. Harassment and Discrimination

  • The College maintains a zero-tolerance approach towards harassment, bullying, intimidation, and discrimination.
  • Students must respect the dignity, privacy, and personal rights of others.
  • Sexual harassment or any inappropriate behaviour is strictly prohibited and will be addressed through the appropriate institutional mechanism.
  • Complaints may be submitted to the designated committees or authorities in accordance with applicable rules.

8. Campus Property and Facilities

  • Students must handle college property, furniture, laboratory equipment, library books, computers, and other facilities with care.
  • Any intentional damage to college property may result in disciplinary action and recovery of the cost of damage, where applicable.
  • Students must maintain cleanliness and use waste-disposal facilities responsibly.
  • Unauthorized removal or misuse of college property is prohibited

9. Library Rules

  • Students must carry their valid ID card while using the library.
  • Books and other library resources must be returned within the prescribed period.
  • Students must maintain silence and discipline inside the library.
  • Writing, marking, tearing pages, or damaging library materials is strictly prohibited.
  • Loss or damage of library materials may require replacement or payment as per library rules.

10. Laboratory and Computer Facilities

  • Students must follow all safety instructions while using laboratories and technical facilities.
  • Equipment must not be operated without proper authorization or supervision where required.
  • Any damage to laboratory or computer equipment caused through negligence or intentional misuse may be subject to appropriate action.
  • College computer systems, internet facilities, and digital resources must be used only for legitimate academic and institutional purposes.

11. Examinations

  • Students must comply with all examination rules and instructions issued by the College and the affiliating university.
  • Students must carry the required identity card and examination hall ticket where applicable.
  • Use of unauthorized materials, communication devices, impersonation, copying, or any other form of malpractice is strictly prohibited.
  • Examination malpractice will be dealt with according to the applicable examination regulations

12. Social Media and Digital Conduct

  • Students are expected to use social media and digital platforms responsibly.
  • Students must not publish or circulate false, defamatory, offensive, threatening, or inappropriate content involving the College, its staff, or other students.
  • The College name, logo, photographs, videos, or other institutional materials must not be used for unauthorized purposes.
  • Any online activity that violates applicable laws or adversely affects the safety, dignity, or reputation of members of the college community may be subject to appropriate action.

13. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are prohibited within the campus and during college-related programmes:

  • Ragging and bullying
  • Violence, threats, or intimidation
  • Possession or use of illegal drugs or prohibited substances
  • Smoking or use of tobacco products in prohibited areas
  • Possession of weapons or dangerous objects
  • Gambling or other unlawful activities
  • Damage or unauthorized use of college property
  • Any activity prohibited by applicable law or institutional regulations

14. Visitors and Campus Access

  • Visitors may enter the campus only with appropriate permission.
  • Students must follow the College’s procedures regarding visitors and campus access.
  • Unauthorized persons must not be invited or permitted to participate in college activities without approval.

15. Disciplinary Action

Any violation of the rules and regulations may result in appropriate disciplinary action depending on the nature and seriousness of the violation. Actions may include warning, counselling, recovery of damages, suspension, or other measures permitted under applicable institutional and university regulations.

The College reserves the right to take appropriate action in accordance with applicable laws, university regulations, and institutional policies.

16. Student Responsibility

Every student is responsible for being familiar with and complying with the rules and regulations of the College. Students are also expected to cooperate with the faculty, administrative staff, and college authorities in maintaining a positive, safe, and respectful academic environment.
